Obituary for Elisabetta Lazzaro

Elisabetta Mangialavori Lazzaro, 86, of Belleville, entered Heaven on January 11, 2022. Born in Ricadi, Italy, Elisabetta was the daughter of Antonio and Lucia Mangialavori. She migrated to the United States at the age of 36, with her two young children and husband. She resided in Newark and later moved to Belleville.

She worked numerous jobs, starting at Charms Factory in Newark and as recent as two years ago, as a cook at Calabrese Pizzeria in Bloomfield.

She was predeceased by her husband, Guglielmo, siblings, Saverio and Catarina, and daughter-in-law, Sally.

True to her maiden name, “Mangia lavori ”, she took equal pride in being a hard worker and wonderful cook to all who knew her. Elisabetta’s greatest possession was her family. She cherished her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spending her summers visiting her family in Calabria with her daughter, son, and grandchildren. She will be forever known for her selfless nature and loving personality.

She is survived by her sister, Maria, son, Peter, daughter, Rosa, grandchildren: Jennifer, Andrea, Louis, Nicole, and Lisa and great-grandchildren: Joseph, Ava, Victoria, Stella, Amelia, Louis, and Antonio.


A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday January 15th at St. Anthony’s of Padua in Belleville with and entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum in North Arlington. Visiting Saturday morning from 9am-10am at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, Montclair.
