Obituary for Jean LaRocca

Jean LaRocca, 92, formerly of Westchester County, NY and the Bronx, NY., passed away peacefully on February 14, 2022 at Family of Caring Nursing Home in Upper Montclair, NJ.

Jean LaRocca, nee Jean Montana, was born January 17,1930 in N. Bergen, NJ. to parents Margaret and John Montana.

Orphaned at age 3, she was raised by her aunt in the Bronx, NY, growing up in a loving home alongside her cousin Isabel whom she forever called “sister.” This family centric, loving environment set the foundation for the beautiful, loving person Jean would become.

In 1955, she married the love of her life, George LaRocca, moved to the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx, NY where she and George lived and raised a family for the better part of the next 40 years.

Jean was all about love. Unconditional, selfless love, and was happiest when giving to others.

Jean was a mom who never took a day or an event for granted, cherishing and savoring each as a special gift. She took great pride and pleasure in doing for others, making sure everyone’s needs were taken care of even at the expense of her own. She was the mom who put together special outings, planned special parties, spent countless hours perfecting Italian meals that would rival those of NYC’s best restaurants… this list could go on forever.

Jean will be remembered for her genuine devotion to family; her dedication and involvement in the lives of her late husband George, her children, grandchildren and extended family. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader.

Jean is predeceased by her husband George LaRocca. She will be dearly missed and forever loved by her family which includes her daughter, Lisa Martinez (and husband Jerry), her son John LaRocca (and wife Carolyn), her grandchildren Michelle, Michael, Alex, Matthew and Giorgianna, her “sister” Isabel as well as other extended family and friends.

We were all truly blest to have had her as a mom, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend.

Heaven now has a new angel.

Rest in peace, mom. We love you!

Funeral services are private at this time. We ask that you keep Jean and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Arrangements are entrusted with Caggiano Memorial Funeral Home, Montclair, NJ.
