Obituary for Michael Caputo

Michael Caputo, 70, passed away on December 1, 2022. Michael was born and raised in Cedar Grove, NJ by his parents Rocco and Jean along with his four siblings Shawn, Kathy, Johnny, and Robbie. Michael met his wife Lucille at a dance in Cedar Grove and they married in 1972. Michael and Lucille made their home in Montclair, NJ where they raised their four children, Tiffany, Rocco, Joelle, and Carmine. In 1972, Michael founded Caputo Brother’s Tree Service along with his brother Shawn in Cedar Grove, a business that has grown and become part of the community for the last 50 years. Michael instilled in his children to always do the right thing and to make the family name proud, something they will impart onto their own children. Michael’s love of his family grew with each new grandchild; known as “Pup”, Michael was blessed with eight grandchildren. Michael loved spending his weekends up in Pennsylvania by the lake, referring to it as God’s country. He enjoyed spending time with his family in Florida and taking his children and grandchildren out on the boat fishing. Michael enjoyed attending his grandsons’ football games and wrestling matches, he was surely a proud grandfather. Michael had a great sense of humor, always cracking jokes. He was known to make his family laugh with his singing and silly dancing. Michael was as tough as they come and his devotion to his family was unconditional. He leaves behind heavy hearts but will joyfully reunite with loved ones he has missed for so long in this world.
Michael is survived by his children, Tiffany (Paul Willis), Rocco (Kristy), Carmine (Jessica), grandchildren, Lexys, Michael, Nina, Lena, Olivia, Rocco Jr., Patrick, and Jolie, and was predeceased by his wife Lucille, daughter Joelle, and parents Rocco and Jean Caputo.
Please join the family in celebrating his life on Sunday, December 4, 2022, from 1-4pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, Montclair. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Monday, December 5th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Montclair.
