Obituary

Ada was born in Lewisburg PA on May 29th, 1935 to George and Martha Leiby. George's middle name was Washington and he was born on the 4th of July. Ada loved his patriotism and big family parties punctuated by fireworks every year! After graduating from Lewisburg High School Ada ventured out of Pennsylvania and made her way to New York City where she studied at The Parson's School of Design. She designed elegant prom dresses and other unique fashionable clothing . She could make slip covers, curtains and later (during the bicentennial) her daughter Susan's Betsy Ross' Halloween costume. After graduating she was a book keeper at a book store in Greenwich Village where she met her husband, Gerry Lindner. They moved out to Montclair NJ in the mid 60s and were blessed with 1 daughter who would later graduate from Montclair High School and Montclair State College. When Susan was 9, Ada became a realtor in 1977 and enjoyed finding lovely homes for singles & families . She and Gerry flipped a few houses of their own and owned a 4 family at 100 Park Street as well as their house on Argyle Road and later Glenside Terrace, right on Brookdale Park. She later started her own Real Estate Company with a few friends. In her spare time she loved to oil paint and could replicate the greats like Vermeer and Cezanne. She commissioned portraits and also painted nature scenes in Bucks County where she retired. She moved back to Montclair to be close to family in her final 3 years. She loved to vacation on Martha's Vineyard and Cape Cod where she would pull up an easel and paint a beautiful tree or beach scene. She enjoyed the simple things like going to Holsteins for an egg cream or Bonds Ice Cream Shop for their famous chocolate Awful Awful. Her dogs were her everything. She is survived by her daughter, Susie McKeown, son in law, Tom McKeown and 3 grand children Megan, Ryan and Gracie and her best friend Teddy. She's predeceased by her husband Gerard Lindner, brothers Russell Leiby, Sterling Leiby, and her parents George and Martha Leiby
