Angelina T. Alfano (nee Squangamor) of Cedar Grove, NJ passed away peacefully with family by her side on December 15th 2025 at the age of 87.
She was born August 4th, 1938 in Montclair, NJ and graduated from Montclair High School in 1957. She married her childhood sweetheart and neighbor, Joseph Alfano. They made their home raising beloved daughter Tina and son Joseph in Verona, NJ. She worked various "little jobs" as a homemaker first and found value in hard work. She had many adventures with her husband and children, from moving to New Mexico where Joe was stationed to camping with family and friends.
Known by most as Angie, her love for family and lifelong friendships was unmistakable. She cared deeply and forged many connections throughout her life. Always ready to tell a story with her gift of gab, she kept family members company on the phone during long car rides and made our commutes infinitely more enjoyable. We will miss her for her deviled egg devotion, Christmas cheesecake and her many Angie-isms. She was one of a kind.
From the camper kitchen to the heart of the home, she was always ready to make you a legendary sandwich or her infamous waffles. Her skills with brain teasers and puzzles were unmatched, and you could always rely on her to know the Yankees score.
Predeceased by her parents Carmen and Angelina Squangamor, sisters Lucy Crick, Grace Jenkins, Anna Lombardi and brother Peter, devoted husband of 62 years Joseph Alfano and daughter Tina Burdon. Surviving are son Joe Alfano and daughter in law Toni-Lynn, grandchildren Kayla Burdon and her husband David Cardenas, Tyler Burdon and his wife Heather, Brenna Alfano, Peter and John Paul along with many beloved nieces and nephews who were proud to call her Mom, Grandma, cherished aunt and friend.
Visitation will be at Caggiano Funeral Home from 3-6 pm. Repast will be at MEAL Restaurant, 522 Franklin Ave, Nutley NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
