Sue De Milia, passed away peacefully, at her home, in Verona, New Jersey, on August 25, 2026, with her son, Stephen, and her wonderful aid, Jeraline Edwards, by her side. She was 99 years old.
The youngest of seven children, she was born at home, and raised in Montclair, New Jersey. She moved to Verona in 1954, living in her home, there, for over 72 years.
She studied in the Montclair Public School System; Baldwin Street Elementary School, Glenfield Middle School, and Montclair High School, and later became a telephone operator, supervisor, and instructor, for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company, in Montclair.
Married in 1950, she was a devoted wife, and mother of four children, and remained married for nearly forty-one years, until her husband's passing in December of 1990.
A devout Roman Catholic, she prayed the Rosery everyday.
A very picky and fussy eater, she had a love for cooking and baking homemade dishes, and had a great interest in practicing good and proper nutrition.
As a pastime, Sue loved to listen to music, especially Italian opera.
She is predeceased by her parents, Rocco Zambri, and Michelina (Monaco) Zambri, her six older brothers and sisters: Pat, Nick, Mary Sansone, Rose De Fresco, Joey, and Nicki Filiaci, their six spouses; her daughter, Susan Avery, and her husband, Vincent. She lived to be older than all of them.
She is survived by her three sons: Richard, Stephen, and Peter; Richard's wife, Maryann; three grandchildren: Matthew Avery, Alison Avery, and Chris De Milia; Matthew's wife, Jes; two wonderful great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren.
