Betty Jane Zehnder, 94, formerly of Montclair, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. A Funeral

Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 19, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Montclair,

NJ. Interment at St. John Cemetery in Orange, NJ, to follow. Visiting will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.

at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St., Montclair. Mrs. Zehnder was predeceased by her husband, George

W. Zehnder, Sr. She was born and raised in Orange, NJ, and after marriage settled in Montclair, where

she raised her family, as well as a niece and two nephews, whose mother had died in a car accident.

She worked at Burelle’s in Livingston, NJ, Brick Church Appliance in Orange, NJ, and as a Montclair

crossing guard.

Betty Jane is survived by her children, Mary Beth Pugliese (Michael), Nancy Keane (John), Sarah Jayne

Smith (Gary), Jeffrey Zehnder (Joanne), Kathleen Katzenstein (Steve) and George W. Zehnder, Jr.; 12

grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister

and brother-in-law, Leona and Frank Scura.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to st.jude.org would be appreciated as Betty Jane was predeceased by her granddaughter, Megan.
