Brenda Louise Holland, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, peacefully departed this life on June 14, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on December 13, 1949, at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, New Jersey,

Brenda was the cherished daughter of Nelson Brown and Lee Nora Brown. A woman of determination and faith, she earned her GED at 19 and later received her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from Essex County Community College. Brenda devoted her life to caring for others. She worked for more than 30 years at Essex County Hospital Center (formerly Overbrook Asylum) and later continued her healthcare career on a per diem basis at Mountainside Hospital until her retirement in 2019. Her compassion, dedication, and warm spirit touched countless lives throughout her career.

A devoted believer in Jesus Christ, Brenda found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved animals, fishing, gardening, watching Law & Order: SVU, Empire, and Judge Judy, and taking trips to Atlantic City. Her kindness, strength, and sense of humor made her a treasured presence to all who knew her.

Above all, Brenda loved her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sherry D. Osborne (Robert L. Osborne Jr.); her son, Ernest D. Caldwell (Hassana Scarborough Caldwell); her grandchildren, Candace R. Wells and Jessica J. Forrest (Xontray Forrest); and her great-grandchildren, Jakhia, Marsel Jr., Ma’Leia, and Josia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson Brown and Lee Nora Brown, and her siblings, Alice P. Overbey, James E. Overbey, and Charles L. Overbey.

Brenda’s life was a testament to faith, hard work, love, and resilience. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

Brenda never said “goodbye”—she always said, “See you later.” So today, we do not say goodbye to her. We simply say, “See you later,” until we meet again.
