Carmela’s life stands as a testament to enduring love, resilience, and unwavering commitment to her family and those she held dear.

Carmela Fusco, of Clifton, a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and treasured sister, peacefully passed away on August 22, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on November 16, 1943, in Italy, Carmela’s life stands as a testament to enduring love, resilience, and unwavering commitment to her family and those she held dear.

She was a steadfast partner to her husband, Mario Fusco, whose companionship through decades defined the heart of their home. Together, they raised a family that brought Carmela endless pride and joy. Her children—Carmine, Robert, and Marcella—were the centerpieces of her world, including their spouse Lauri, Edith and Anthony.  All of Carmela's children benefitted from her wisdom, encouragement, love and constant support. Carmela’s influence did not end with her immediate family, as she guided, cherished, and doted on her grandchildren: Maximus, Shawn, Michael, Giuliana, and Luca. She attended their milestones with pride and offered boundless affection, her warm presence a source of comfort and guidance.

Family extended further for Carmela, who shared a close bond with her sibling, Carmine Santulli. Her circle of love and remembrance also includes siblings who predeceased her:  Rose DeSomma, Martino Santulli, and Mario Santulli. Though gone, each left an imprint on Carmela’s heart, and their memories continued to be honored in her life.

Through her many roles—as a spouse, a mother, a grandmother, and a sister—Carmela embodied compassion, thoughtfulness, and graciousness. Her legacy resonates in the values she instilled, the traditions she upheld, and the gentle kindness she shared with all.

Carmela’s life will be commemorated with a viewing on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Caggiano Memorial-Home, 62 Grove St, Montclair, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held in her honor on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Oratory, 94 Pine Street, Montclair, NJ. Following the service, entombment will take place at 11:30 AM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ.
