Obituary
Cecily Irene Garris was born on November 9, 1967, in Orange, New Jersey to proud parents, Frank and Margaret McCray. She was raised and educated in the Montclair school system, having graduated from Montclair High School in 1985. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University in 1989. Upon graduation, Cecily joined Prudential Financial as a Compliance Analyst and held an assortment of roles throughout her career working in the Insurance and Financial Services industry. She was most proud of her role as a Compliance Officer and worked as a Compliance Manager in her most recent assignment with Delta Dental. Cecily received her Master of Arts degree from University of Phoenix in 2007.
In 1987, Cecily met her soulmate, Gary Garris, at Rutgers University. They were married on September 26, 1992. Cecily and Gary were blessed with four children, three sons and one daughter. Cecily was a loving wife, mother and a member of St. Mathias Church in Somerset. Cecily was well known for her ability to fix or build anything and became the go-to person for anything that needed to be put together because the men in the house always had "extra screws". Cecily loved to go on road trips and was proud of the fact that we almost made it to every state. Before the progression of her illness, Cecily was able to travel to the Grand Canyon where she was in awe of its beauty and majesty. She loved the spontaneity of taking weekend trips and turning them into extended, unplanned destinations with her children.
Cecily was predeceased by her father Frank McCray Jr.; brother Glenn McCray; son Andrew David, who passed shortly after birth.
Cecily is survived by her mother Margaret; her husband Gary; daughter Danielle; and sons, Alex and Brandon; Her sisters, Jan (Ricky) Schenck and Alison (Tony) Mahone; Her nieces Jilian (Davren) Noble, Jaiden Mahone; Kyleigh Noble; and Brielle Williams. Her nephews, Ryan Schenck (Cora), Darin Schenck, Zachias Noble and a host of beloved family members and friends. Cecily will forever be loved and remembered by all whose lives are better and brighter just because she lived.
