Clinton (Clint) L. Spencer

On Thursday, January 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Saint Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, New Jersey, Clinton ("Clint") L. Spencer of Montclair, NJ, peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord after a long illness.

Clint was born on May 8, 1941, in Clarksville, Virginia. He attended West End High School, where he distinguished himself as both an excellent student and an outstanding athlete. A quiet and reserved young man, Clint excelled in multiple sports, including baseball, football, basketball, and track. His athletic talent and sportsmanship earned him widespread respect, recognition in Clarksville's local newspapers, and a place in West End's Baseball Hall of Fame, where he was honored as a Most Valuable Player (MVP).
After graduating from high school, Clint moved to Montclair, New Jersey, where he joined a close-knit network of family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and siblings. Through his family, he was introduced to Diane, who would become his beloved wife and lifelong partner.

Clint completed coursework in property management before beginning his professional career as a dispatcher for a nationwide freight company.
Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, he later pursued his dream of becoming a self-employed owner-operator in the trucking industry, successfully running his own over-the-road freight business. In addition, he built and managed a modest portfolio of properties until declining health made it difficult for him to continue. He also took pride in serving and helping to keep the community safe as an auxiliary police officer. He briefly worked at Tone Fitness, owned by his son-in-law, and enjoyed greeting and getting to know the members.

Clint was predeceased by his parents, William and Laura, and his siblings Novella, William C., Clarence, and Carolyn. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his son, Derrick of Atlanta, GA; and his daughter, Donna Davis (Joseph) of Montclair, NJ. His three grandchildren also survive him - Justin and Danielle of Montclair, NJ, and Deja of Paris, France - as well as his cherished great-grandchildren: Tyler, Cameron, Cassidy, and Riley. He also leaves one brother, Matthew (Elaine); his sister, Harriet; his niece Barbara;
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

In his leisure time, Clint enjoyed gardening and taking pride in his family's accomplishments. He loved watching his granddaughter play professional soccer on television. Whenever his health allowed, he treasured trips to the Jersey Shore, especially to the family beach house in Brigantine, affectionately known as "Baywatch."

Clinton Spencer will be remembered for his quiet strength, hardworking spirit, and deep love for his family. His legacy of perseverance, dedication, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
