Obituary

Edward Lee Reed Sr. was born on June the 8th1943 in Southampton County Virginia to the late Thelma Boyd and the late Jasper Reed. Lee, as we fondly called him, relocated at an early age to Dover, New Jersey. Where he attended Dover High School. Lee was an amateur boxer, he fought in the lightweight division in his early years. Lee was a southpaw (left-handed) and at times would state his opponent never saw his left coming! He considered himself an excellent bowler and did Bowl a few 300 games. He brought fun and Laughter to his teammates. In his early twenties he relocated to Newark, where he worked 16 years with Lift Schultz trucking company. In 1978 he began driving for Kraft Foods until he retired as a happy Teamster. From March 7th 1970 to January 1st 2000 he was married to Patricia Anne Grayson from this Union, his daughter Stacy Darlene Reed and his son Edward Lee Reed Jr. were born. Lee was a devoted husband and father, But music was always his next love. After moving his family to their home in East Orange. He met his neighbor, Alton Bullard; they quickly became friends and then business partners. They started providing music for all occasions, and that was the beginning of A&L Productions. Whatever type of music you enjoyed and wanted to hear, Lee had it ready to pull from his massive crates of records. Because of Lee's passion for music and DJ-ing there was never a dull moment, so whether at a venue or in his home he always enjoyed getting people dancing. Everyone that knew Lee knew he had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed him.
