Georgianna "Georgi" Murphy, 94 of Montclair and Glen Ridge, N.J., passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, with her loving family close beside her.
Visitation will take place at the Caggiano Memorial Home, 62 Grove Street in Montclair on Tuesday October 9th between the hours of 9 and 11 AM, a service will commence at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery thereafter.
Georgi is survived by her daughter Pam Patton, and sons Richard and Dan Murphy; Grandchildren Shannon Corcoran, Ryan Muller, Jacqueline Murphy and Richard Murphy III and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Tom Paugh and her sister Alice Carol.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard "Dick" Murphy and her daughter Susan Murphy.
Born on March 12, 1924, Georgi was a gifted artist who taught art at the Yard School of Art in Montclair. She was a co-owner of Murph's Sport Shop in Upper Montclair along with her husband Dick Murphy. She and her husband raised their children in Glen Ridge, N.J. moving to Montclair later in her life. A member of the Glen Ridge Country Club, she was an avid golfer and it was at the Glen Ridge Country Club that she met her husband when she was just 16, they married 3 years later. Georgi also loved the Jersey shore where she enjoyed sharing her beach house with her children and grandchildren, going on long walks on the beach, collecting shells and sea glass.
