Obituary

Iannah Marcella Marsh was born on the 14th of September, 1989.

She moved through the world with a rare combination of softness and fire. Her kindness had no boundaries, her loyalty no conditions, and her joy no dimmer switch. She loved boldly, defended fiercely, and laughed with a lightness and sweetness that could lift even the heaviest day.

Since she was a little girl, Iannah was a mischievous jokester — quick to giggle, quick to brighten a room, quick to turn an ordinary moment into something memorable. Her big, bright, beautiful white smile was unforgettable: a smile that softened tensions, sparked joy, and made people feel instantly welcomed.

Born in America but shaped by her deep Jamaican roots, she carried her heritage with pride. It lived in her voice, her humor, her strength, and the way she loved everything about her culture and her family.

Wherever she appeared, the atmosphere shifted. Not through noise, but through an undeniable presence. She carried a warmth that comforted those around her, and her instinct to care was immediate and wholehearted. If she loved you, she stood beside you without hesitation. And if anyone threatened the people she cherished, her fire rose with a clarity that left no doubt about her devotion.

As she became a woman, she found joy in the rhythms of home. Cooking, baking, and creating a warm, inviting space were expressions of her love. Being a mother and a homemaker wasn't just something she did — it was something she excelled at, something she cherished, something that filled her with pride.

Iannah loved with depth and intention. Her parents, Maxine and Ian, were her foundation — she was both a daddy's girl and a mummy's girl, held closely by each of them in different, tender ways.
Her brothers, Brian and Roury, were her heart's companions. She adored them, protected them, and celebrated them. She loved being their big sister and showing them off and she carried that sisterly bond with fierce affection and endless pride.

Her children, Brandon and Dasani, were the very center of her universe. She wanted to give them the world — cheering for Dasani's scholarly achievements and shouting for Brandon on the football field.

Her grandparents, Yvonne and Seymour Lewis, loved her as their first grandchild. They recognized her uniqueness from the beginning and cherished her strong will and kind heart, seeing in her a spirit both powerful and gentle.

Everyone knew Iannah. She was embraced by all in our wide and devoted family — aunts and uncles from every branch and generation, each touched by her spirit in their own way.

Everyone who grieves for her holds an "Iannah story," and they almost always begin with a bold gesture of kindness — a moment when she stepped forward, stood up, or reached out when no one else did. She didn't cling to resentment. She didn't measure her affection. She lived with an open heart and an open hand.

Her world was expansive, and so was her influence. She had cousins too numerous to count from around the world, friends who became like her family, and admirers drawn to her beauty and vibrant spirit. And now, this wide circle feels the hollow space she leaves behind.

The Marsh family is devastated by the loss of Iannah.

The Lewis family aches for her in ways that feel unbearable.

The Douglas family weeps in her absence.

The Redguard family longs for her presence.

So many hearts are touched by the same grief.

We are stunned at losing you, Iannah.

Losing you has created a silence we are still learning to navigate.

Iannah Marcella Marsh died on Saturday, the 10th of January 2026.

She leaves behind a life measured in devotion, kindness, and the countless hearts she touched along the way.

We miss you beyond measure, our sweet and beautiful baby girl.
Your light lives on in all our hearts, every family gathering, every act of courage or kindness done in your memory.
