Janet Rubino, formerly of Montclair and more recently Cedar Grove, passed away on June 10, 2023, with family by her side after a long illness. She was 72.
Janet was born and raised in Montclair and spent most of her life there. She was a proud Montclarion and 1968 graduate of Montclair High School. She worked for many years specializing in workers compensation in the staffing field. Janet was a devout Yankee fan. She enjoyed Yankee discussions with family and banter with Red Sox fans. She was an avid gardener and planted many beautiful flowers and shrubs at 47 Columbus Ave while lovingly caring for her father.
Janet also loved to travel, especially to her beloved Bahamas with her dear friends and family. Janet was a deeply loyal and compassionate person. She was known for her big love, sassy humor, and big attitude. Janet had room in her heart for everyone. She adored her family, especially her niece and nephew Jaime and Christopher and great niece and great nephew Jordi and Caden. She loved spending time with them, as well as her dear friends, sisters, brothers-in-law, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
While proud of her Italian roots, Janet embraced other cultures with equal passion and respect. It was common for her to advocate those whom she felt were vulnerable or treated unfairly. Janet will be deeply missed. Her Facebook account will remain open if anyone would like to post memories. The family would like to thank their family and friends who lovingly supported them and Janet through her illness.
Janet was predeceased by her loving parents Joseph and Rachel (nee DiGeronimo) and nephew Christopher (Reilly). She is survived by her sisters Judie (Reilly) and Jacqueline Rubino, brothers-in-law Bobby and Rob (Linen), niece Jamie Solheim (Brian), and great niece and nephew Jordi and Caden, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
