Joan E. Drake, 71 of Montclair, New Jersey, went home to be with the
Lord on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
Joan was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on March 27, 1952 to the late
William Fletcher and Linnie Nottingham. She attended the Montclair
school system and graduated from Montclair High School. Upon
graduation she attended nursing school following a successful career
caring for others.
Joan (Ms. Drake to most) worked and retired from the healthcare
field as a nurse. Joanie was full of life as she affectionately displayed her
love for all. She loved dancing, singing (In her Diane Ross voice) and
loved being around family.
Joan was a phenomenal daughter, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother,
sister, aunt, cousin and friend to so many and was loved by everyone. She
was kind, compassionate, caring and feisty. She had a contagious
personality which we all loved. Her heart was filled with joy, laughter, and
at times sadness and pain. She refused to be a victim of her
circumstances. Until the very end she fought and was one of the strongest
women we all knew.
Joan leaves to cherish her memories, daughters Tikeesha and Rorie,
son, Christopher and brother Butch (Uncle Butch). Son-in-law, Donnell
(aka Sha), sister n law, Audrey and Grandchildren: Desiree, Marcus,
Jasmine, Aleira, Maiya, Nylah, Keyanna and Saniyah.. Nieces: Vicki,
Donna, Carla, Tess, Caniece and Jennifer. Nephews: Richie, Duane, Eddie
and Darryl and a host of family and friends. She was predeceased by
brother, Donald Fletcher and sister, Carol-Ann Montague.
