Joseph Berman, 90, of Montclair, New Jersey passed away peacefully in the comfort of his shore home on January 24, 2026 with his family by his side.
Joseph was born in 1935 in his home in Totowa, New Jersey. The son of Joseph and Martha Berman, he spent his childhood in Newark and moved to Montclair once married.
Joseph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked early in his marriage at Mahaffy & Harder Engineering Company in Totowa followed by a long career at Cryovac division of W.R.Grace until he retired. Joseph loved the shore and would share his time between Montclair and Point Pleasant with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife Eleanor and his mother Martha and father Joseph, brothers, Albert, Frederick, and Irving and niece Heidi Berman. He is survived by his two sons Scott with wife Heather and Randy with wife Lizzie, grandchildren Melissa with husband Brenton Smith, Naomi, Erik and Evan and his three great grandchildren Lilliana, Oliver and Luis and his nephews Tom, Bob, Carl, Fred and nieces Kathryn Berman, Patrice Yoder and Lynne Pasciuti.
Joseph was a beautiful and kind person that loved being surrounded by family. He will always be loved and never forgotten.
Viewing will be held Thursday, January 29th, 2026 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Service will be held Friday, January 30th 2026 at 11:00am, both to be held at Caggiano Memorial Home, 62 Grove St. Montclair, New Jersey followed by interment at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Montclair. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to HMH Ocean University
