Joseph A. DeFuria, 85, of Clifton, NJ, formerly of Newark, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his son, Joseph A. DeFuria, Esq. and his wife, Kara DeFuria, and his three grandchildren, John, Alexa and Matthew. He is also survived by his brother Anthony DeFuria and his wife Patricia.
Joseph was predeceased by his former wife, Paula DeFuria, and his daughter, Susan DeFuria.
Joseph retired from the U.S. Postal Service after a distinguished career, and spent his retirement surrounded by family. Joseph was a quiet family man who truly enjoyed and loved his grandchildren. He was an avid shopper with a true eye for fashion, who loved spoiling his family with the perfect gift for every occasion. Joseph also loved Broadway musicals and frequently attended many shows. Joseph will also always be remembered for his sweet tooth and his love of all desserts.
The family will remember Joseph with a funeral mass on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, Bloomfield, NJ. The family will gather before and after the Mass.
