In Loving Memory of Judy E. Samuels
November 11, 1950 – August 21, 2025
With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Judy E. Samuels, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and faithful servant of God. Judy departed this life peacefully on August 21, 2025, in Pooler, Georgia, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 11, 1950, in Montclair, New Jersey, Judy was the cherished daughter of the late Alberta and Harold Ricks. She grew up in Montclair and graduated from Montclair High School in 1968. She continued her education with two years of college, laying the foundation for a long and impactful career.
Judy dedicated over three decades to the insurance industry, beginning in the early 1980s with National Life Group, where she served under various DBAs. She built a reputation for excellence and professionalism, ultimately holding the title of Case Design Specialist. In July 2010, she joined Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, where she continued to serve with the same dedication and integrity until her retirement in November 2016, a celebration of her remarkable work and commitment.
A woman of deep faith, Judy was an active and devoted member of the New York City Church of Christ, New Jersey Branch: North East. Her spiritual journey was enriched by a providential meeting with Loraine Langevine and Wanda Williams from the church while walking her beloved dog, Pal, in the park. From that day forward, Judy became a compassionate and steady presence in the church community—known for her caring heart, her prayers, and her unwavering devotion to visiting and supporting the sick and shut-in, always offering encouragement and the Word of God.
Judy's legacy lives on through her loving family: her devoted sister, Jean Ricks of Bluffton, SC; her cherished niece and nephew-in-law, Kristal and Ralph Chandler of Pooler, GA; her beloved great-niece, Chyna Green, and husband, Randall Green; and three treasured great-great-nieces, Summer Tolbert, Autumn Tolbert, and Eliana Green, all of Savannah, GA. She also leaves behind one great-nephew-in-law, Ralph Chandler III, and his wife, Monsey Chandler; and two great-great-nephews-in-law, Sincere Miles Chandler and Syair Chandler, all of Dunellen, NJ. She also leaves her cherished dear cousin and confidante, Wanda Jonathan of Richmond, VA, Cousin Brian Kirkland of Brooklyn, NY, Omari Kirkland of Washington, D.C. and cousin-in law: Debbie Kirkland of New Jersey as well as a host of many cousins and close friends.
Judy E. Samuels will be remembered for her quiet strength, boundless compassion, and steadfast faith. She touched lives with grace, lived with purpose, and loved deeply. Her spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
