Obituary

Lillian (Nicosia) Galello

November 2, 1928 – July 29, 2025

It is with profound sadness that our family shares the passing of our mother Lillian (Nicosia) Galello on July 29, 2025, at the age of 96. Lillian was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, proud grandmother, adoring great-grandmother, and loyal friend. Her warmth, compassion, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her. She was deeply devoted to her faith, which was a guiding force throughout her life.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael P. Galello, and her dear son, Patrick M. Galello.

She is survived by her loving children: Michael (Joyce) Galello, Steven Galello, Paul (Elizabeth) Galello, Teresa (Robert) Muentz, and Pamela (Michael) Silverman; and daughter-in-law, Valerie Galello.

She also leaves behind her loving brother, Salvator (Joy) Nicosia, her twelve beloved grandchildren: Jason (Erin) Kissel, Jillian Galello, Michael (Erika) Galello, Matthew Kissel, Shamus Galello, Brian Galello, Michelle (Jeff) Hoffmeister, Alyssa (Aaron) Conners, Luke Kissel, Kristen Galello, Elise Silverman, and Mia Silverman; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Eliana Kissel, Jack Kissel, and Gianni Galello.

Lillian met her husband at a friend's wedding in NJ, married and raised their children in Montclair, New Jersey in a home filled with much love (and chaos at times), friends and family. Lillian was a seamstress by trade and loved preparing family meals. She was renowned for her signature dishes including Sunday gravy, baked ziti, lasagna, manicotti, and the best meatballs. Her kitchen was a place of love, laughter, and delicious memories that will be treasured by her family for generations.

Lillian's life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience. She will be remembered for her deep devotion to family, her generous spirit, and the grace with which she lived her life. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Lillian resided at The Residence in Voorhees, Voorhees, New Jersey, where she was surrounded by care and comfort in her later years. The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to all staff members and friends she made there.

Our family will be receiving visitors on Monday August 4th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove Street, Montclair, NJ. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 5th at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Montclair, NJ. Interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair.

May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband and son.
