Lisa S. Alfano (Gervasio) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on January 20th, 2026. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Lisa will be celebrated with a wake on Friday, January 23rd at Caggiano Memorial Home from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona on Saturday, January 24th at 10:00 am.
Raised in Verona, Lisa graduated from Verona High School in 1986 before attending the University of Scranton, where she earned her degree in 1990. She went on to dedicate more than three decades to a career in medical social work, remaining in the field until July 2025. Helping others was central to who Lisa was. She took great care in knowing each patient by name and ensuring they felt seen, supported, and valued. She extended this compassion to everyone in her life.
In May 1994, Lisa married her husband, John. Their marriage was built on love, mutual respect, and devotion to their family. John was Lisa's constant source of strength and support. Together they created a warm, loving home for their children Christian and Danielle who were by far her greatest source of joy.
Lisa was deeply involved in her community and her children's lives. She volunteered with various school organizations, served as a CCD teacher, and was always willing to lend her time wherever it was needed. She never missed an opportunity to cheer on her children in their extracurricular activities. Supporting them in all of life's moments brought her immense joy.
In September 2025, Lisa enrolled in a clinical trial at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for treatment of Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML). Her participation reflected both courage and a lifelong commitment to helping others, as she pursued hope for herself while contributing to research that will benefit others for many years to come.
Although Lisa will be deeply missed beyond words, she leaves behind a loving family and lifetime of exemplary traits that she instilled in them. Her kindness, generosity, and strength will continue to live on in her family and those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lisa was predeceased by her mother, Angela, and her brother, Neil J. Jr. She is survived by her husband, John; her children, Christian and Danielle (David); her father, Neil; her sisters, Patrice Noyes (Carl), Dana Socci (Robert), Noele Lonergan (John), and Kim Schneider (John); as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lisa's honor to the Verona Rescue Squad and Verona Lions Club who both helped Lisa and her family in many ways.
