Lois Scurese of Whiting, formerly of Bloomfield and  Newark, who passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at Toms River Community Hospital, is remembered with profound respect and heartfelt admiration by all who knew her.

Born in Newark, then moving to Bloomfield where she raised her children as a single mother, and had a strong devotion Saint Gerard.

She leaves behind her devoted son, Joseph Scurese, and her loving daughter, Louisa DeRose. Lois’s legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Joseph Gennaro Scurese and Alex DeRose, who will carry forward her values and memory.

Lois is predeceased by her beloved parents, Gennaro and Jennie DeSimone. She is also reunited with her siblings: brothers Frank, Eddie, Gennaro, Carlo, Mario  "Butch", and Nicky Eigner, as well as sisters Marie, Guida Teta, Jennie Petruzzi, and Anna Demeres. Their enduring familial bond was a source of great pride in her life.

A Mass honoring Lois Scurese will be held on July 13, 2026, from 9:45 AM  at Sacred Heart Church, 76 Broad St, Bloomfield, NJ 07003. Interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair.  Family, friends, and members of the community are invited to pay their respects and celebrate her life and legacy.

Lois Scurese’s memory will remain an enduring inspiration to her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was marked by love, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to those she held dear.
