Obituary

Louise Anne Giessen, 93, of Montclair, passed away on Tuesday, November 12 after a short illness. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 14, 10 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Montclair. Interment at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield. Visiting will be Wednesday (today), from 3-6pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, Montclair. caggianomemorial.com


Born in Bloomfield, the daughter of the late Alexander and Rose Casale, Louise graduated from Bloomfield High School and after her marriage to Charles Giessen continued to reside in Bloomfield prior to moving to Montclair in 1960.

Louise was an avid golfer and following a lengthy career in New York CIty and New Jersey as a legal secretary she became the Director of Handicapping at the New Jersey State Golf Association. Administering the then newly created USGA GHIN system before her retirement She was the longest tenured member of Glen Ridge Country Club.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Richard "Sonny" Giessen, and is survived by her daughter, Luanne Giessen and her granddaughter, Charlene Rochelle Giessen of Montclair; her son, Charles Richard Giessen Jr. of New York City and Old Lyme, CT and his children, Gregory and Alexandra Giessen of London, England and Gabrielle Giessen Of New York CIty.

Louise was predeceased by her siblings, Mary Frances Casale, Antoinette Casale Stevens, Frank Casale, all of Blloomfield, and Alex Casale of Oak Ridge, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Montclair Ambulance Unit, 95 Walnut St., Montclair, NJ 07042.
