Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, 77 - James Irving Hinton Sr. of Montclair, NJ passed peacefully surrounded by his family on September 3, 2023. Born March 12, 1946 in Suffolk, VA. Son of James and Mildred Hinton. A union was formed between James and Frances (Taylor) Hinton on February 7, 1969. Out of this union, five beautiful children were formed. James a.k.a "Jimmy" retired from the Montclair Fire Department in 2004.



James touched the lives of many with his art of storytelling and making people laugh. His favorite past time was fishing and listening to jazz music. Sharing the good news about God's Kingdom within the community was his greatest passion. He served faithfully as an elder in the Montclair North Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.



Survived by his wife Frances of 53 years, daughter Jerry Jones, sons Rodney, Travis, Guy (Patty), Jireh (Melissa) and James, Jr., five grandchildren: Sterling, Jerelle (Sarah), Jayden, Genesis and Serenity. He is also survived by siblings: Calvin, Wayne (Brenda), Sharon, Karen (Robert Coles) Jennifer (Robert Foley), Gwendolyn and a host of memorable aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.



A memorial ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 330 Orange Rd. Montclair, NJ 07042.
