Mary "Mary Lou" Walsh, 97, (nee Rametta) lifelong Montclair resident, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday October 15th, surrounded by her family. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday October 20th at 11:00 am at St. Cassian's Roman Catholic Church in Upper Montclair followed by an Interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday from 1-4pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, Montclair.
Mary was born in Waterbury, CT, moving to Montclair as a child & was a lifelong Montclair resident. Besides raising her family, she worked at Schering Plough, Bonds Ice Cream Parlor, and held positions in the Montclair public school system as a Lunch aide & Secretary.
Mary is survived by her 5 children: Cindy Villarosa, Lisa, Bill & Tim Walsh, Melissa Sweeney, along with their spouses, Ray, Lynette & Kevin; her grandchildren Jamie, Lance, Jillian, Andrew, Mara, Kayla, Lea, Caitlin, Regina, Megan, Molly & Brad and their spouses & partners, and great grandchildren Noah, Faith, Dom, Aria, Christopher, Emmie, Tyler, Nash & Belle. She leaves 2 brothers, Robert & Paul Rametta.
She was predeceased by her husband William "Bill", her daughters Jill & Judy, her brothers Carmen & Donald Rametta, sister Josephine Mattes, and her parents Carmen Rametta & Alice Magri..
Marylou loved cooking & feeding people and helping those in need. She was curious & interested in everyone she met and loved her family deeply. She enjoyed politics, & shopping, & going to the pool, and she especially loved going to lunch & to the Casino with her many friends & her sisters in laws.
