Richard Cherchio, 77, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024 surrounded by his family.

He was born in Bayonne to Salvatore and Frances Cherchio and spent his childhood there. He attended Wagner College where he majored in History, and later received a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University.

Richard spent most of his life as a small business owner and later in life worked as a realtor. He loved fishing, skiing, landscaping, and chocolate ice cream. His proudest accomplishment in life was his children: Richard, Nicole, Matthew and Francesca; and his grandchildren Naya, Lily, and Nora - all of whom survive him along with his daughters-in-law Paula and Shannon, son-in-law Bentley, sister Diane, and brother John. He will be remembered for his boundless love for his family and kindness towards others.

A memorial service will be held on April 7, 2024 at Caggiano Memorial Home in Montclair. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Nantucket Conservation Foundation in his memory.
