Obituary

With broken hearts we announce the passing of Robert Joseph Domenick, 86, of Cedar Grove, NJ on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Visiting Monday December 16th from 4pm-8pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St., Montclair. Funeral mass Tuesday 11am at St. Anthony's Church in Belleville.
Born September 11,1938, Bobby was born and raised in Newark, NJ. While attending Barringer High School, where he was the starting quarterback, he met his future wife Camille DelBianco. Shortly after high school they married and had 3 children Anthony, Angelo and Maria. In turn, he was blessed with his grandchildren: Dylan, Angelo, Anthony, Dana, Alexis, Andrew, Domenick, GianCarlo and Milana.
Robert started as a carpenter and eventually became the Construction Code Official for the Township of Belleville, where he served for 25 years. After retiring from the township he began a new career as a builder/developer and spearheaded multiple residential developments throughout the state.
He was a gifted athlete excelling in football and track in high school where as quarterback he led his team to multiple championship seasons. He picked up golf in his 40's and quickly became a competitive player. His love of sports and athletic prowess transferred to his children and grandchildren; many of whom went on to have outstanding high school and college careers of their own.
In recent years he was a constant presence at his grandchildren's games and matches. Shuttling around to root for them in whatever sport they were involved in. He never missed a sporting event. He was always there before the event started and was the last to leave showing his support and pride in each one of them.
He is survived by his companion and partner, Joyce Lacara. His family, Camille Domenick, Anthony and Lisa Domenick, Gina Domenick, Maria Merola, Andy Merola, Dena and Mike Sapienza. His sisters Dolores Pappas and Sabina Rotunda and grandchildren, Angelo and his wife Stephanie, Anthony and his future wife Maria, Dana and her husband Nevin, Alexis, Andrew, Domenick, GianCarlo and Milana as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Bobby was predeceased by his beloved son Angelo Domenick, grandson Dylan Domenick, brother Angelo Domenick and parents Angelo and Ethel.
