Stephen Wayne Carroll
We had to say goodbye on Saturday, November 13 to Stephen Wayne Carroll, 69, of Upper Montclair. Stephen was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother and his family was the core of his entire being.
He was born in New York City to the late Mary McNiff and the late Alfred Carroll, and later lived in Leonia and Maywood. Stephen was a member of the first class of Paramus Catholic High School. He graduated from Montclair State University as a philosophy major and stayed in Montclair ever after.
Stephen enjoyed an illustrious career as a global change management leader for many corporations, including Ernst and Young, Thomas Reuters, Pfizer, Prudential, Chanel, AT&T, and Bank of America, among others. At the time of his passing, he was working on a project for the Veteran's Administration.
Stephen was a brilliant wordsmith with an offbeat sense of humor. A conversation with him was never boring and his articulate voice was certainly unique. He enjoyed books, music, concerts, plays, listening to sports radio, and he was an enthusiastic bicyclist. Stephen thrived on world travel and explored five continents with a great spirit of adventure. His credo was to never give up, but instead to just keep pushing through all resistance.
Stephen leaves behind his wife, Eileen Dormer; his son Devin Carroll and his wife Michelle; his son Colin Carroll and his fiancée Nolan Smith; his brother James Carroll; his sister Colleen Carroll Abel and her husband Jim; his grandchildren Caylee Carroll and Chase Carroll; his niece Madeline Carroll, and his nephews Brendan, Andrew, and Daniel Abel, and Josh Carroll, along with many cousins and cherished friends.
Family and friends are invited on Sunday, November 21, 2021 for visitation at 1pm and a service at 2pm at Caggiano Memorial Home, 62 Grove Street, Montclair NJ, immediately following the service, all are invited to a repast at Fritzgerald's 1928, 13 Herman St, Glen Ridge.
