Sylvia Brownstein (Sevirena Veronica Gentile) 97, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2020 in Cedar Grove, NJ.
Sylvia was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY then married and moved to Valley Stream, NY then North Caldwell, NJ. Sylvia and her husband spent many years in West Palm Beach, FL and finally Cedar Grove.
Sylvia is survived by her loving husband Murray Brownstein a World War ll Veteran and a successful business owner; they were married 74 years. Sylvia is also survived by her beloved children Mitchell Brownstein and wife Mary, Elaine Calcagno and husband Albert; her grandchildren Joshua Vath his wife Janet and Holly Calcagno. Sylvia adored her children and grandchildren and was blessed with 4 great grandchildren, Kole Fox, Jude, Jase and Jolie Vath.
Sylvia was one of 6 children born to Madeline (Falduti) and Peter Gentile in 1922. She was a dear sister to the late Frank Gentile, John Gentile and Madeline Sarles, who she raised from a child after losing their parents. She is survived by her identical twin sister Anna Caravella and brother Joseph Gentile both who reside in NJ along with many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Sylvia was a woman of faith, selfless, kind, compassionate and loved by all her friends and family. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Arrangements are by the Caggiano Funeral Home in Montclair. The services will be private. A mass and celebration of her life will be at a later date.
