With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Sylvia Magliaro, 94, of Montclair, NJ on November 29, 2024 surrounded by her family. Sylvia was known to all who had the pleasure to meet her as a loving, supportive, kind woman who loved her family very much.
Born September 28th 1930, Sylvia was the third of four children of Rosa (Locastro) and Giuseppe Petronaci. Sylvia graduated from Montclair High School in 1948. After high school she went on to hold various positions as a seamstress, typist at Prudential and a waitress at Montclair State. She met the love of her life, Joseph Magliaro, on the Seaside Boardwalk. They got married in 1952, and went on to have four beautiful children.
She held the nickname "the cookie lady" to all who knew her. Sylvia was a great baker and cook, who was known for all her Italian cookies and cakes. She wouldn't show up to an event without her 3 foot pound cake, or 100 chocolate spice cookies to share.
Sylvia held her family close to her heart, always putting them first, creating a home filled with love and warmth. Sylvia's friends were an extension of her family, drawn in by her kindness, generosity, and loyalty. Sylvia welcomed anyone in need with open arms offering her home as a place of comfort.
Her spirit was a guiding light, and her legacy of love and connection will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Sylvia is survived by her four children, Joseph and his wife Joanne, Steven and his wife Kathy, Bob, and Susan and her husband Dave, her eight grandchildren, Tim, Tony, Scott, Joey, Steven, Patrick, Brandy, Daniella and eleven great grandchildren.
Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her parents Rosa and Giuseppe and her three siblings Joseph, Nino, and Concetta.
Visiting Tuesday December 3rd from 4-8pm at Caggiano Memorial. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday December 4th at Immaculate Conception Church in Montclair, entombment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery to follow.
