William "Buddy" DeZenzo, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025 with his family by his side after a brief illness at the age of 93. Buddy was married to the love of his life AnnaRita DiGeronimo-DeZenzo for 53 years until her passing.
Buddy grew up in West Orange, NJ and lived an upstanding life. He was respected by his family, friends and peers and loved for his unequalled kindness, great nature, work ethic and care for others. After decorated service to his country during the Korean War, he returned to the states and became a career fireman for the Township of Montclair where he resided for 60 years. Upon retirement, he went on to enjoy a second career serving the students and senior citizens of Verona as a bus driver.
Buddy was a beloved father to his children: Joe and his wife Connie, Andrea and her husband Dave Maestas, Christina and her husband Bernie Saccaro, and son William Michael DeZenzo II. He was adored by his seven grandchildren (who called him by his nickname "Pop") Michael (Stephanie), Kristy (Jacob), Alyssa (Matt), Carly (Mike), Nick (Sarah), Donato, and Victor; and by his three great-grandchildren Sonny, Mark and Owen. Buddy loved staying busy and appreciated spending time with family watching his grandchildren's sporting events, having big family meals and listening to Frank Sinatra.
Buddy was predeceased by his parents Frank and Ann, brothers Frank, Joe and Jacky, and sisters Madeline, Irene, Anna, Sissy and Doris. He has two surviving sisters: Helen and Franny.
Visiting hours Sunday June 15th from 4-8pm at Caggiano Memorial, Montclair. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am on Monday June 16th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Montclair, interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair.
